Its >>September<< and the weather is whole lot cooler than has been all summer. For us lace wig wearers & weave wearers that is GREAT News! Some of us have been having at it with this heat all summer! You probably have found yourself applying & fixing your glue more often. The endura bond is great for hot humid weather and swimming but a hard bond is not really needed for the fall and winter . We have various types of soft bonds ,which include silicon bonds that will cure and hold even longer than usual in the cool weather. Ultra hold is a well known silicon bond we carry that will hold up great in cool weather rather than hotter temperatures.

Hair Washing

Tools You Will Need:

  • Wide tooth Comb
  • Paddle Brush
  • Sulfate Free Shampoo
  • Conditioner
  • Deep Conditioner
  • Leave In Conditioner

*It is important to keep All our textures moisturized. Why you ask? The hair is no longer receiving the natural oils it once received from the donor’s head. When hair loses its moisture it will begin to dry our and split at the ends. Split ends can transform your beautiful wig from 20 inches to 14-16 inches in due time! Dry hair looks rough and damaged but hydrated hair looks healthy and beautiful!

First Grab Your Comb & Brush!

298x232-wet_hair-298x232_wet_hair

You can de-tangle in smaller sections(recommeded) or larger sections if you prefer. But please note that if you have not de-tangled properly shedding and matting will occur. After your hair is brushed out you can now begin to wash! Please Do Not Detangle With A Fine Tooth Comb!

You cannot just wash your hair with any ol’ thing! No Sulfate’s! & Please Chose Washing Agents that have Moisturizing Benefits.

The Skinny On—->> Sulfate Free Shampoo’s

It is VITAL to your Lf’s hair that you use a Sodium Laureth Sulfate Free Shampoo! Shampoo’s that contain SLS will DRY OUT YOUR HAIR! SLS is used in a lot of household cleaners and detergents. Around the house it is good get the oils off of counter surfaces but you should never want to strip hair of its own natural oils. If you feel that your hair has a lot of product buildup don’t resort to a harsh cleanser! Choose a Clarifying Shampoo or Do a ACV rinse (Apple Cidar Vingar) which is a cheaper option. Some women don’t like the smell so a clarifying shampoo works just as good. ACV rinses are based on a small part apple cidar vingar such as 1/4 a cup to a larger part 2 cups of water. ACV rinses are best done as the last step in your washing regime because they help lock in moisture. If done correctly your hair will feel very soft. You should condition before you do a ACV rinse. A conditioner rich in glycerin or “good” oils is best when deciding what kind of conditioner to get.

Moisture!

Glycerin is a humectant that retains moisture in hair and skin. I Love this product because it really works and has made a difference in even my own natural kinky hair. When using glycerin based products on your unit. These Products that contain glycerin also contain other commonly known moisturizing products. Coconut oil, soybean oil, Shea butter, and aloe vera. Being one of the first five ingredients listed in our conditioner. You can make a leave in conditioner by diluting this conditioner with water and storing in a spray bottle for easy everyday use. This everyday mix can be used on all our textures to maintain moisture in the hair.

Deep Conditioners!

Deep conditioners & Silicon Mix are used after about 2 weeks after you receive your wig. They can be done once week depending on the type of results you would like your hair to have. Conditioners like this REVIVE the hair so should only be used when needed. Deep conditioners should contain the same ingredients as regular conditioners. Below is a descriptive list of what you want in a conditioner and what you don’t want. Silicon mix is a Dominican hair product famous for the way it silkens and softens the hair it is used in many Dominican salons. Like a deep conditioner it should only be used when needed and NOT everyday!

After De Tangling…Begin Washing!

1. When washing fill a bucket or sink with cool water.

2. Put desired amount of shampoo in the sink or bucket.

3. Let Sit for 15-30 mins.

4. Rinse the unit holding it by the hair and not inside the cap.

5. Fill Water in sink or bucket again.

6. Put desired amount of conditioner in the sink or bucket.

7. Let sit for 15-30 mins.

8. Rinse the unit holding it by the hair and not inside the cap.

10. Let air dry.

If you follow these key steps & tips washing your unit will be a breeze & insure ur beautiful investment!

Its July & it’s the one of the hottest months of the summer.  I know many of you ladies would to take nice cool dip in the water but you are afraid of the damage swimming will cause on your lace wig. This is a guideline on what to Do when your swimming in a lace front.

Silicon Water Proof Bonds Vs. Hard Bonds

There are water proof silicon bonds and there are hard bonds. Water proof silicon bond will not hold against strenuous activities. But will hold against mild water contact. So If you don’t plan On going diving this could be an option for you. Hard bonds are exactly what they are described as Hard.

Positives of a hard bond are..

  1. Longer hold
  2. Water proof
  3. Not Sticky
  4. Cleaner Application

Negatives of a hard bond.

  1. Hard
  2. Tight hold
  3. May experience pulling at nape
  4. Damaging to Fine lace

A hard bond is not for everyone it depends on your skin sensitivity. Some women cannot handle it. There are many protective measures you can do to prevent injury to your skin and protect from rashes. But for some a hard bond is the real deal because it enables them to sweat and  battle heat. Basically do anything they would do in everyday life.

ATTENTION!! You  DON’T want your Curly Do to look like this!

So you resort to your basic straight hair. Curly Hair is beautiful and provides many different styling options. I put together all this information for you ladies that want to go curly but are hesitant too. For all you Current Curlies and Future Curlies. This guide will give you the info you need to make your curls pop and your Curly Do look even hotter! I’m not gonna lie curly hair requires more care than straight hair but can be easily done once you learn how to care for it.

Love My Lace Wigs Offers a variety of different curly/wavy Hair Textures for Lace Wigs and Lace Frontal  Pieces:

LMLW-CUST-LOVELY-BODY-3T

Indian Remy Body Wave

LMLW-CUST-LOVELY-DEEP-6

Indian Remy Deep Wave

LMLW-CUST-LOVELY-WATER-2

Indian Remy Water Wave

LMLW-CUST-LOVELY-JERRY-3

Indian Remy Jerry Curl

KINKJERR-2

Indian Remy Kinky Jerry Curl

Women who want a slight curl or wave usually purchase a Body Wave.

A Deep Wave for a Curly/Wavy Look is a natural looking medium curl/wave pattern.

A Water Wave looks like a tighter ripple pattern that is more textured than the previous textures.

Our Jerry Curl Texture for women that are in love with bouncy, beautiful ringlets. This Hair can be brushed out to achieve a “curly afro”.

For Women much like myself often try our natural Kinky Curl which is a defined densely packed curl that is the most natural look to African American women.

I have worn all these textures and have worked my way up you could say into dealing with my own natural kinky curly pattern. Honestly the smaller and coarser the curl the more maintenance required to care for the hair. Silky Hair such as the one of Indian Hair possess requires less product and overall styling time. Our Kinky Curl pattern which calls for more moisture and time. None the less both textures can be easily maintained if the look is desired.

Your Everyday Beauty Tools

Satin cap

Satin Cap

I would recommend buying a satin cap or purchasing a satin pillow case to maintain hydration. You can braid your hair into two or more large braids if your hair is lengthy and then place your satin cap over it.

A Large Wide Tooth Comb

WIDETOOTHCOMB_l

Wide Tooth Comb

Depending On Your desired style I would first Brush the hair out with A Large tooth comb a Wig brush. If you want to maintain a “new” look just finger comb it with your hands and go!

Detangling…

Each pattern does require Section by Section detangling at least twice a day.

When you wake up and before you sleep.

denman

The Infamous Denman Brush

To Ensure the longtivity of your Remy hair requires de-tangling TWICE a day. De-tangle BEFORE you wash and AFTER you wash. This goes for all textures even straight hair. I know that doing all this seem time consuming but the ending result will be well worth it! =)

After the first Day that night before you sleep…de-tangle starting from TIP to ROOT. Section off a Small part of your lace wig starting from the bottom of your wig. This section should be small enough where a smaller tooth comb would be able to go through it with ease. But instead of using a small tooth comb were going to use a Denman brush or a wig brush to de-tangle. Use clips to keep track of the sections separating de-tangled hair from non de-tangled hair. REMEMBER to start at the tip of the hair and work your way up to the root when brushing. Once you reach the top of the wig. Go over the entire head doing 4 large sections. The top of the head, back of the head and the two sides of your head. You should also do this starting from tip to root.

Hydration…

*It is important to keep All these textures moisturized. Dry hair looks rough and damaged but hydrated hair looks healthy and beautiful!

LMLW-ADCS-023-2

Kenra Moisturizing Conditioner

Depending On Your Curl Type Whether it Be The Loose Waves of Our Body Wave to Tight Curls in Our Kinky Curl.Hydrating Your Hair Is Very Important. Hydration keeps a unit lasting longer..feeling and looking better! I would recommend use a spray bottle to apply moisture to your hair at least once a day. Moisture being a high glycerin based product. I recommend this type of product because it doesn’t feel oily to the touch.

How To Wash Your Curls

Creme of Nature Detangling Cond. Shampoo

Creme of Nature Shampoo Sulfate Free

You can de-tangle in smaller sections(recommeded) or larger sections if you prefer. But please note that if you have not de-tangled properly shedding and matting will occur. After your hair is brushed out you can now begin to wash! It is VITAL to your Lf’s hair that you use a Sodium Laureth Sulfate Free Shampoo! Shampoo’s that contain SLS will DRY OUT YOUR HAIR! SLS is used in alot of household cleaners and detergents. Around the house it is good get the oils off of counter surfaces but you should never want to strip hair of its own natural oils. If you feel that ur hair has alot of product buildup don’t resort to a harsh cleasner!

Deep Conditioners & Silicon Mix

Silicon Mix

Silicon Mix

Deep conditioners & Silicon Mix are used after about 2 weeks after you receive your wig. They can be done once week depending on the type of results you would like your hair to have. Conditioners like this REVIVE the hair so should only be used when needed. Deep conditioners should contain the same ingredients as regular conditioners. Below is a descriptive list of what you want in a conditioner and what you don’t want. Silicon mix is a Dominican hair product famous for the way it silkens and softens the hair it is used in many Dominican salons. Like a deep conditioner it should only be used when needed and NOT everyday!

Glycerin1

Glycerin

Glycerin is a humectant that retains moisture in hair and skin. I Love this product because it really works and has made a difference in even my own natural kinky hair. When using glycerin based products on your unit. These Products that contain glycerin also contain other commonly known moisturizing products.Coconut oil, soybean oil,Shea butter, and aloe vera. Being one of the first five ingredients listed in our conditioner. You can make a leave in conditioner by diluting this conditioner with water and storing in a spray bottle for easy everyday use. This everyday mix can be used on all our textures to maintain moisture in the hair. Since the hair is no longer on the donor’s head moisture is vital to keep this beautiful Remy hair healthy for months to come.

Can Oils Be used Instead Of Glycerin?

Yes! only certain oils such as Coconut oil, Olive oil, and Soybean oil…this is not all of the oils you can use but they are the most common “Good” oils. In saying good these common oils have beneficial uses. Coconut oil can be used in actually moisturizing the hair. Olive & SoyBean Oil is good for sealing in moisture in ones hair. Aloe Vera and Shea Butter are also good moisturizers.

Now for the “Bad” Bad Oils consist of Mineral Oil and Petroleum. These are often mistaken for Good oils because it looks as if the hair is healthy because of the shine given off using these products. But these type of oils just coat the hair and don’t benefit the hair in anyway. Petroleum is a common skin protectant used around your edges when getting a chemical relaxer aka a perm. If you have ever gotten a perm before and used this around your edges you will notice that you didn’t get burned. The petroleum jelly acted like a protection barrier between your skin and the chemicals around it. So applying this same concept because mineral oil and petroleum both act alike in blocking anything from penetrating your hair. If you use products rich in these ingredients vital moisturizing products will be blocked from enriching your hair. So to wrap it up your hair MIGHT feel good..soft and shiny. But underneath it will actually be DRY and BRITTLE.

I’ve taught you how to de-tangle and what products to use when moisturizing after this is done you can go on to Enhance and Define Your Curls!

Styling Your Curly Do

When deciding what products & tools you need to style your hair..

First important to choose what look you are trying to achieve..

Many of our customers ask..“Does it matter which products I use to style my wig?”

Take into consideration what I’ve said about hydration and how vital it is to hair’s health and overall life of your lace wig.

So of course it matters what kind of styling products you put on your hair.

  • What Do You Want Your Curls/Waves too look like?
  • Do u want a very natural air dried look?
  • Do you want a very defined Curly do?

“The Natural Look.” ( aka Quick & Easy Styling!)

  1. De-tangle and Moisturize using a leave in conditioner or conditioner and water mixed in a spray bottle.
  2. Go through in sections to make sure the product is evenly distributed.
  3. Use comb to distribute product from root to tip.
  4. Then use your hands to scrunch your hair up wards.
  5. You can let it air dry or use a blow dryer with the diffuser attachment to speed up drying time.

“Curl Definition.” ( The Poppin Curls Look!)

This look can and sometimes require more product and time.

  1. First de-tangle and moisturize use your curl enhancer/defining cream to coat the hair.
  2. Go through section by section of the unit in even smaller sections you would use to just restore curls/waves.
  3. Use comb to distribute product from root to tip.
  4. Then use your hands to scrunch your hair up wards.

A blow dryer with diffuser attachment is recommended if you want to create the most defined look. Be cautious of how hot the heat is coming from your dryer and how long you keep this heat applied to your hair. Think of your blow dryer as a flat iron or curling iron. Heat is used to achieve a curl or straight look. The heat helps define your curl. In this case dry properly to avoid frizzing giving a defined curly look. I would dry hair until its 50%-80% dry then let the hair air dry until it is fully dried.

The Most Frequently Asked Styling Question when it comes to Curly Hair is…

  • Can I Flat Iron My Curls?
  • Will The Hair Revert Back Curly?
  • The Answer is Yes and Yes!

“Straightening” (Bone Straight!)

  1. De-tangle and moisturize your hair first as always.
  2. Before you straighten use A Heat protectant spray to coat the hair.
  3. Section off your hair.(Your clips will come in handy to ensure easily separation.)

Be cautious of the temperature your straightening your hair. High heat can damage your hair leaving it very dry and brittle. You don’t have to blow dry your hair first to straighten the curl pattern of your unit. You can start straightening right away after you have used your protectant spray. The smaller the sections you use to straighten your hair the straighter it will be and the longer your hair will stay straight. Increasing the heat should not always be your first option when it comes to straightening your hair, but actually decreasing the amount of hairs you straighten at a time. When you saturate your curly unit in water the hair will revert back to holding to curl pattern it had before it was straightened. The Curl pattern will and can loosen over time depending on how many times.

This is a pretty descriptive guide in how to maintain and care for a LoveMyLaceWig(TM)Curly/Wavy Unit. I hope that you follow this guide to ensure the health and overall life span of your unit.
