Oh dear…. What a terrible shame :(

The above photos are examples of what can happen to your costly Lace Wig Unit if you fail to treat your lace wig unit with the love, kindness and the proper tools for combing and brushing it so dearly requires.

Just simply using an “average” toothed combed or extremely fine toothed comb on your unit… or a regular bristle brush repeatedly can eventually lead to excessive knot slippage, which results in the shedding, thinning and noticeable balding patches on your lace wig unit.

As instructed on the Love My Lace Wigs™ For Beginners: Lace Wig 101 Page, for daily combing & maintenance, it’s best to use a wide tooth comb (like a shampoo comb) when combing you unit and/or a “Wig Brush” or  (“Cushion Brush” with balls at the ends of its bristles) for brushing. These products are available at any beauty store. See images below for examples:

Other causes for Lace Wig Knot Slippage & Lace Wig Thinning/Balding are:

  1. Excessive roughness while combing/handling lace wig unit.
  2. Excessive roughness while washing lace front wig unit or washing your lace wig too frequently.
  3. Combing your lace wig unit while its still wet after washing/conditioning.
  4. Not combing your full lace wig unit from the tips/ends first and working your way down (especially if your unit is tangled).
  5. Not air drying your lace frontal unit after washing/conditioning.
  6. Using greasy and oily haircare products on you lace wig unit (ie. oil sheen).
  7. Not thoroughly removing the lace wig adhesive from your unit prior washing/combing your lace wig.
  8. Using hot water on your unit.
  9. Excessively scratching your lace wig unit in the same spot repeatedly (especially bad for short hair styles that are layered extremely short in the nape/perimeter areas.)
